Dr. Dennis Law grew up and graduated from high school in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. After high school graduation, he served as a missionary for two years. Returning from a mission, Dr. Law attended Brigham Young University, graduating in 1978. Dr. Law attended Colorado State University School of Veterinary Medicine graduating in 1982.

After graduating from CSU in 1982 the Laws returned to Wyoming where Dr. Law practiced for five years at Bear River Veterinary Clinic. In search of greener pastures, and greater opportunities professionally, especially in the area of surgery Dr. Law moved to Salt Lake City where he and his partner Dr. Steven Timothy built Cottonwood Animal Hospital. In 1987 Cottonwood Animal Hospital was awarded the prestigious award of “Hospital of the Year - 1987” by the magazine, “Veterinary Economics.” Dr. Law directed and practiced at Cottonwood Animal Hospital from 1987 through 2012.  Dr. Law continues to practice at Cottonwood Animal Hospital.  His practice primarily involves spinal, orthopedic, and soft tissue surgery.

Beginning in 2010, Dr. Law has been increasingly involved in the management and development of other veterinary hospitals located in multiple states and locations.  Since 2010, Dr. Law has served on the board and as President of Companion Animal Practices North America.  He has also assisted in the growth and development of multiple other veterinary hospitals.  

Dr. Law has been active in numerous organizations as a participant and in leadership capacities. Dr. Law has served the Utah Veterinary Association as a board member in charge of continuing education, and at another time as a board member responsible for public relations and education. Dr. Law has also served as the Salt Lake City Veterinary Medical Association President in 1991. Dr. Law has also been active in other Veterinary Professional organizations such as the Veterinary Orthopedic Society where he served as a board member for 6 years and the President of the Veterinary Orthopedic Society 1996 - l997.

Dr. Law has also been very interested in developing his skills and knowledge in the areas of orthopedic, spinal, and soft tissue surgery. One of the highlights of his post doctoral educational experiences was to spend 6 months practicing surgery under the guidance of Dr. Jeff Robbins and Dr. Richard Eaton-Wells, at a surgical referral center in Brisbane, Australia. Dr. Law continues to enjoy the acquisition of knowledge and skill while continuing to attend courses and conferences in the areas of surgery.
