When you bring a pet into your home, you make a commitment to keep them healthy and happy. Part of that commitment is to provide comprehensive vet care throughout the life of your pet. Comprehensive Exams and Preventative Care

During a comprehensive exam, our veterinarian will perform a variety of tests and provide a nose-to-tail checkup. After you fill out the necessary paperwork, your pet will receive a weigh-in to see if they are at the correct weight for their age. Our veterinarian will also check your pet’s skin and eyes, which are a good determining factor of your pet’s overall health. The ear flaps, ear canals, and eardrums are checked for abnormalities and any presence of tumors, parasites, or growths. The full-body review also includes listening to the heart and lungs and looking into the nose and mouth.

Our veterinarian will probably set up a wellness plan to ensure your animal gets the proper vaccinations to prevent illness and disease. Kittens and puppies come to the vet for vaccines every three to four weeks until they are around four months old. After that, your pet may only receive a booster every one to three years depending on the brand of the vaccine and their lifestyle.

Services Offered

At Cottonwood Animal Hospital, we offer a variety of services, including dental exams and cleanings, diagnostics like X-rays, round-the-clock emergency services, and surgeries.

Other services include testing for heartworms and other parasites. While heartworms are completely preventable and treatable, if your pet gets heartworm, it’s important to treat them early to avoid a potentially fatal outcome.

Importance of Routine Checkups

Dogs and cats can’t tell us when they are feeling bad, and many times their symptoms can go unnoticed. For this reason, it’s important to provide your pet with routine checkups to ensure they are in top physical health.

Pets age must faster than humans. As a result, their bodies wear down quicker. Regular checkups can detect any potential issues before they turn into big problems. Also, by spotting and treating issues early, your pet has a greater shot at getting better and staying healthy.
